"Oh, yeah, I'll finish the living room and maybe even have time for--"

Why do you guys keep letting me embarrass myself like this, lol.

Honestly, it didn't go too terribly badly today, aside from some moments when I kept getting overwhelmed or distracted by small details that I really did not mean to be focusing on. Just goes to show how truly awful I am at estimating how long something will take, I guess. Didn't really end up taking breaks, either, except for food and a quick run to the store. At least the floors look good and so do the surfaces... Well, the surfaces look good in theory. I've got stuff piled either because I needed it off the floor or I couldn't do anything with it until the other stuff made its way back to the floor. I could do that now that I'm done with the floors and furniture has been putting back where it goes* but it's very late and I'm very tired, so it's gonna wait until tomorrow.

As for tomorrow... I think I'm gonna just pick up, change the bedding and maybe dust in my room. A full overhaul like I was planning would've needed to be worked on throughout the whole weekend, I think. It's disappointing but I'd rather not disappoint myself by setting a clearly unreasonable task in my way. I'll also finish off what's left of the living room, of course-- it'll be a little easier since sorting through some of the stuff will be something my mom and I do together-- wipe down the walls for good measure and of course take care of the bathrooms. In hindsight, I probably should've done those first to get them out of the way rather than waiting because they wouldn't take as long. Whatever. What matters is that they'll be done.

This weekend obviously hasn't gone as I hoped but at least I can look forward to a good finish :)

*Some of the furniture is not where it should be but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what's wrong with it...

Vierapril 2025 Day 30

Vierapril Day 30 - Future

While I've featured a fair bit of stuff about the boys (and their daughter!) in terms of post-MSQ, I don't think I've ever really laid it all out. What better time than now?

Also on Tumblr

After MSQ ends, Laurent will wrap up his studies on botany and how aether can be manipulated to assist in growing flora in places where they can't usually thrive in. Given that he's doing field work and studies in between all the world-ending stuff going on, this doesn't take particularly long. Once he gets his Archon mark, the two return to Rabanastre.

The boys don't know how to build things. They think they do, and thus, chaos ensues.

(It makes sense, though... Wood Warders wouldn't exactly need to build furniture or houses, and afterwards they never really had to... think of such things. But they need to learn the hard way. Because of course they do.)

Writerly Ways

And just like that it's over I can't believe four days are gone so fast. And at the same time managed to feel like 4 months. So tired. Today was a shorter day though. We used to have workshops ALL sunday but I think last year it was changed to only half a day because so many had to be home by tomorrow. Met a younger prof from NY and she likes a lot of the same things I do. She wants us to have a fantasy book reading club and wants to beta read my stuff. I don't know if I'll do that but I will absolutely keep in contact

I was back at the hotel by 1 and I did stay the day because I always leave monday and wasn't even thinking but anyhow I decided let's go to the Pittsburgh Aviary. Well so did all of Pittsburgh. No place to park. The onstreet parking is dicey to begin with and as I rolled by I saw there was a line out the door. I don't need birds that bad. I should have gone to the Heinz history museum but it didn't have new exhibits (I went last year) and thought well I have never see ALL of the Pittsburgh Science Center, just the special exhibits. Kind of a waste of my money sadly mostly because it is 100% geared to the 4-11 year old crew which is amazing really but since I have no kids... The special exhibit was on mental health but while inventive, it was wasted on me because it was designed to be experienced in a group. Nothing could be done on your own. Oh well, I was entertained for a couple of hours at least.

And then dinner. OMFG, I saved the best for last and it was also SUPPOSED to be open and it wasn't. See me curled into a ball in the corner. I found some middle eastern/greek thing Ephestus Pizza and got a gyro pizza (onions, tomato, gyro meat and feta on a wood fire pizza sounded good. I've been so used to mediocre gyro meat as of late I was shocked I could smell the lamb (halal) through the box. It was true gyro meat and lots of it (better be given the price) tons of cheese too. Excellent. To make myself less disappointed I got baklava (vegan, I'm assuming butter isn't halal? I don't know. I found out today you couldn't put honey in tea because the heat kills the honey and that's forbidden) Anyhow best baklava I've had in ages.

So obviously no writing anything today. My brain is mush so links only

mundanity

· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder
What is it that you see?
Is it that shy smile
A flower blooming in the morning
The way the light filters through a window

But do those who see that beauty
Truly appreciate it
Or are they blinded
By its mundanity

In this cruel world
Where people are hurt
When others suffer
While the world turns against us
And there’s nothing that can be done

If it’s all against you
It can be difficult to let go
And allow yourself some peace

But in a harsh world
It’s all the more important
To look past the mundanity
And see the beauty

See what you’re beholden to
And see the reason
You survive.

Giro Week 2

This second week has been a bit of a "wait, wasn't the Siena stage just the other day? How has it been a week already?" kind of affair. Not that it's been boring—on the contrary—but just that each day comes so hot on the heels of the day before, dominated by these punchy break-focused stages in a way that can make it hard to keep it all straight.
