How's It Going YEMers?

Can you believe it? We are twenty days into our Year-End Marathon! That means we're roughly a third of the way through the challenge, for a par of 10 000 words or 10 days towards your YEM pledge. But whether you're on par or not, we'd love to hear how things are going for you. Your triumphs and your frustrations. Are the words flowing like water or does it feel more like time is slipping through your fingers? What can we do to help you reach your goal?

For myself, I've been struggling to get words into the project I was wanting to focus on this month. The desire is there, but bum glue has been in short supply. And then a whole new (and much shorter) project blossomed into my GYWO Scrivener project and oh look at that, words! 😅

If you're soaring ahead, great job! If you feel like you're falling behind, just remember this is a Marathon and we've still got a good ways to go. You could have zero days of writing and still make a daily writing pledge, so hang in there!

This is not a check-in post and participation is entirely voluntary. The official YEM check-in will happen on Discord at the end of the month, and while that is also entirely optional, we strongly recommend it as a way of supporting your writing habit.

I'm doing more or less okay with my wordcount - 22k, so ahead in my YEM goal but behind in my usual monthly goal. I signed up for 500k at the start of the year, and although I already reached that target I'm still trying to maintain the same monthly wordcount.

My personal goal when I joined the YEM was to reach the 14k in just one project, though, and I'm really struggling with that. I've only just passed 6k, and I'm starting to feel like I should switch to something else and give this one a bit of time to develop in the back of my mind rather than pushing on with it now.

*waves pompoms* Sometimes the muse is fickle and has no respect for our plans, for sure! 6k is still a lot more than you had at the start of the month, great job!

I decided to do YEM because I finished my Light pledge a while back, and I really wanted to meet my final stretch goal of 150k by the end of the year. So far I'm on track to meeting it.

I've also finished two WIPs that sat languishing for years: one from 2019 (my first year of GYWO!) and one from 2021.

Oh man, finishing something that's been languishing in Incomplete for so long feels so good, doesn't it? Congrats on getting those two works finished!

I've got about 4k left of my 15k goal, and I'm trying to find the time and thought process to meet it! I'm in between gift exchanges (one finished, one not assigned yet) so I COULD do exchange treats, or I COULD do just something from upcoming events i have (prep in advance?! what?!) but more likely, uh-oh video games! We'll see what i can manage on my days off :')
